The traditionally-built village of Soldeu is centred around an express gondola which provides swift access to the slopes from the ski holiday resort, Hotel Sport Village. It provides some of the best accommodation and dining options in Andorra, and enjoys a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere offering a good choice of restaurants, bars and shops.

In winter, Soldeu is renowned for a ski resort that offers excellent ski and snowboarding activities with the largest and best slopes in the Pyranees. In summer it is still the perfect place to visit for biking, mountain trekking, white water rafting and anything else mountain range related.The village has a wealth of bars, hotels and restaurants, additional to many ski and snowboard shops. It is considered a more family orientated place than the close by Pas de la Casa. Catalan is the native language here. Typically a large number of Irish and British tourists here consistently, and English is spoken in many restaurants and shops.

A few miles down the road, the skiing holiday resort of El Tarter has grown over recent years and now offers high quality accommodation options conveniently located around a recently-built modern gondola and chairlift which access the Grandvalira area. Evenings are considerably quieter than neighbouring Soldeu. The free ski bus provides a frequent service linking all the ski resorts in Grandvalira area, including El Tarter and Soldeu.
